What fresh hell is this?

Why, oh why, must I find relaxing a difficult thing to do sometimes? Honestly? Is it really so difficult? This is a particularly interesting problem to be confronted with as I've never considered myself an uptight person. On average, I'd say I'm more relaxed than your average bear. But then again, perhaps I've just pushed all Type A behavior out of my mind. No. I don't think that's it. I'm going to blame this one on graduate school. Free time became a guilt inducing phenomena, unless prescribed by social ritual... and even then it was touch and go. Really, at that point, cleaning/laundry/grocery shopping/household maintenance turn into modes of relaxation, if not avoidance. I'm still walking that line.

Hmmmm... I've since rediscovered sweatpants can be a great relaxation aid. Shows you where my heads at, can't even remember the power of sweatpants. Bollacks.

For better or worse, sweat pants give me the opposite reaction when I wear them. They make me feel on edge, as if I should be doing something. So I have to relax in normal clothes. A pity since the sweats are so comfortable.

I don't do sweatpants...not in public, not at home. Something about growing up in the South with overweight women running errands all over town in sweatpants that turned me off on them.

As I've discussed many times with Chris, it's all a matter of perspective. I grew up in sweatpants or their track suit cousins because of all the soccer trips. Game over with a 3 hour car ride to look forward to? Sweatpants or track suit, hands down. There are rules though. No holes in sweatpants, no tight sweatpants, no words on ass, etc, etc, etc.

But I can totally understand your dislike. And really, I think we can all agree that men should not wear sweatpants. You're courting trouble if you do.

I've given up on truly relaxing. There's always that little voice saying I could be doing something useful with my time. Since I usually can be, it's hard to shut it up. And, because TV and movies are in German here, it's like work to watch them. I'm going to take a crack at CSI tonight, though. I KNOW I won't understand the words in German when I barely understand those technical forensic terms in English, but it's worth it for CSI.
